Back to Nairobi

Candace and I had a couple of free hours before our meeting with KMTC (Kenya Medical Training College) directors and opted to visit the Giraffe Center where injured or abandoned giraffes are cared for. Here we are visiting with "Daisy" a 17 year old giraffe.

This is KMTC-Nakuru campus in Nakuru. The campus was well maintained and very well equipped. Pictured are the Principal of the school,
the Lab Director, MedicalLab Science faculty, Mr. Julius Munyao (KMTC deputy director of all campuses). We had a very good meeting and enjoyed lunch on their campus.

Medical Lab Students at Nyeri Provincial General Hospital learning to use the Celltac automated hematology analyzer. Notice the gloves and lab coat for student protection!

What a gorgeous Simba in downtown Nairobi. He was our landmark to remember how to get back to our hotel! Candace and I shopped at the City Market for souvenirs and gifts.

In addition to enjoying the photos you posted from Kenya, I'm in the Allied Health Building with participants for Clinical Lab seminar via videoconference.

I loved the pictures from this blog. It's amazing to see what type of materials and machines they have in other parts of the world that aren't as fortunate as we are. It's nice to see what other countries are doing.

I absolutely love the picture with the giraffe. I am one of those people that would save any animal that I see hurting. I cannot stand people or animals being abused. I also like how everyone is helping each other and also helping themselves by wearing protection. I would love to go oversea or out of the US to see how things are different in our world. Great pictures!! I enjoyed looking at and reading your blog.

I love the pictures on your blog. I especially like the giraffe, Daisy. Is 17 young or old for a girraffe? I also think that the Simba is cute. Would love to hear more about your trips! From what I can tell, it looks like they have nice equipment to use at their school. I love to travel, but the only other country that I've ever been to is Mexico. I hope that maybe one day I can visit Kenya and other parts of the world to see how other people live.

I think it's great what Kenya is doing to help the wounded/abandoned giraffes. No animal should have to suffer.
Also, it's great to see that other not so well-off countries have access to thse types of medical facilities and machiness, so that they may better their countries.

I love the pictures in this blog. It is amazing how everyone is having such a great time. They are also aware of saftey by wearing protection becuae most people do not understand the importance of it. I always wondered what it was like outside the U.S. So thanks for sharing.

I think it's a really great thing, what they're doing to help the injured or abandoned giraffes. I hate hearing about animal cruelty so I'm glad they're doing all they can to help these animals.
I've really enjoyed reading your posts and seeing how different things are in these countries.

Nairobi, Africa seems like a very fun place to visit and learn. I would enjoy visiting there because of the animals and markets. I wanted to be a livestock veterinarian before joining the CLT program at LSUA; but there just is not a need for them in my area. Animals fascinate me but I like the science part of them. I think that I have made a wise choice by joining the CLT program. I hope that upon completeing this program, I am able to apply to med school and become a clinical pathologist. I would love to visit these countries and be able to share my studies with other students. That would be a dream come true.

This looks like such an amazing experience, not to mention all of the good you are doing there! It's very inspiring to see you doing this. Hopefully, one day I'll be able to do the same! All of your pictures are amazing.
