Back to Visit Kiev in the springtime

Our colleagues told us the best time to visit  Ukraine was in the springtime.  As luck would have it, we have been invited back for more meetings and collaboration between our countries, in June 2012!
I remember feeling like I had been back in time and reliving "Dr. Zhivago" when I was here 3 months ago.  The skies were misty gray with light snowing falling continually and temperatures hovered around 32 degrees F.
Today, leaving the airport and heading into Kiev I didn't recognize the scenery!  The skies were a brilliant blue and the trees and grass and flowers were spectacular!  I probably took 50 pictures through the windshield before reaching the Intercontinental hotel!  Springtime in Kiev is sight for everyone to see!
Our colleagues from CDC and USAID met us at the hotel and welcomed us back to their city.  We will tour the Kiev Pecherska lavra (Monastary of Caves) on Sunday.  The Lavra are located in the Dnipro Hills and perhaps the greatest monument of Kiev.  The caves were build about 9 centuries ago.  It is a complex of churches, masterpeices of architecture by themselves,  it is a holy place of worship for christians.  The Lavra is famous for its catacombs with the saints' relics.
